Zinc die casting alloys
- Zamak 2, also known as Kirksite, is unique among the Zamak alloys as it is the only one used for gravity casting. It has the highest hardness and strength, making it an excellent bearing material that can eliminate the need for wear inserts in zinc castings.
- Zamak 3 is the most popular zinc die casting alloy, offering a well-balanced mix of mechanical and physical properties, long-term dimensional stability, and superior casting quality.
- Zamak 5 contains more copper than Zamak 3, resulting in greater strength but reduced ductility. It is easier to finish, plate, and machine than Zamak 3 and is the most widely used zinc die casting alloy in Europe.
- ZA8, a zinc-aluminum alloy containing 8.4% aluminum, is valued for its excellent plating and finishing qualities, making it ideal for decorative applications. It is the only ZA alloy suitable for die casting.
